Vision Statement |
Values |
An intergenerational village that is close to downtown with clustered townhouses and flats to maximize efficiency, interaction, and green space. Where we share skills and facilities where it makes sense and respect privacy and independence where it is needed and desired. We right size our lives to limit our ecological footprint. Our decision making and group process is inclusive, as simple as possible, and flexible.

Creative. Dynamic. Enriching.
Intergenerational. Shared responsibilities. Shared fun. Shared meals! A community of belonging.
Integrity. Accountability. Commitment. A place with the opportunity & challenge to live into our values. Empathy. Inclusiveness. welcoming.
Listening. Kindness. Compassion. Respect. Curiosity. Generosity. Sustainability.
Living lightly on the earth. Beauty. Comfort. Security. Mutual support. A place of learning, of healing, of spirit. These words and phrases capture the heart of what we want in our cohousing community.

Though we did a few preliminary meetings and looked at property options in November of 2016, Spokane Cohousing was officially launched in January 2017 (renamed Haystack Heights Cohousing late that year).
In February 2017, we hired Katie McCamant of CoHousing Solutions as our development consultant. Katie bring 30+ years of best practices experience to our project, and credibility as a nationally-known cohousing expert. In early March 2017, Katie flew in to give a cohousing presentation on EWU's campus. We had 40 people join for this momentum-building event. |
That weekend, Katie led us through a 2-day workshop on membership and marketing, outlining our project's next steps. It was an empowering experience to gain skills in confident and informed decision making.
In April 2017, we took time to workshop our mission, vision and values all together. We broke ground May 2020. |
